What a private jet broker does

An operator owns and flies a fleet. It has a set number of aircraft, based in a set number of places, and it will quote you those aircraft and no others. A broker sits between you and every operator that could serve your route.

In practice that means five things:

• Establishing what the journey actually needs. Passenger count, baggage, runway constraints at both ends, timing pressure, whether a nearby airfield would be materially better value or closer to where you are really going.
• Searching the market. Including aircraft already positioned near your departure point, which is frequently the difference between two quotes on the same route.
• Verifying the operator. Air Operator Certificate validity for the class of flight, insurance appropriate to the route and passenger count, aircraft suitability for the runways involved, crew currency and duty limits against your schedule.
• Presenting real options. Specific aircraft, specific operators, all-in prices, with the trade-offs between them explained rather than buried.
• Managing the booking. Charter agreement, passenger details, handling and ground arrangements, and whatever changes on the day - because on private flights something usually does.

Broker, operator, jet card or fractional

These are four genuinely different products and the right one depends on how often you fly.

Booking direct with an operator can be the best-value route where that operator already has an aircraft in the right place at the right time. The problem is knowing which of the hundreds of European operators that is on any given day. An operator quotes its own fleet only, so you are comparing one option against nothing.

A jet card is prepaid hours with a single provider at a fixed hourly rate. It buys simplicity and price certainty. It costs you capital tied up in advance, and it locks you to one fleet - so when that fleet is the wrong shape for a particular trip, you fly it anyway.

Fractional ownership is buying a share in a specific aircraft, with monthly management fees and a multi-year commitment. It makes sense at high, predictable utilisation - broadly north of 50 hours a year on similar routes - and rarely below that.

A broker involves no capital, no commitment and no fixed fleet. You pay per flight and the aircraft is selected fresh each time. The trade-off is that you are trusting the broker to vet the operator properly, which is why the next section matters more than anything else on this page.

How we vet operators

Because a broker does not fly the aircraft, the vetting is the service. Before any aircraft reaches your shortlist we confirm:

• The operator holds a current Air Operator Certificate valid for the class of flight being sold
• Insurance cover is appropriate to the route, the aircraft and the passenger count
• The aircraft is suited to the runway length and surface at both ends, including the diversion airfield
• Crew are current on type and the schedule sits inside legal duty limits, with no pressure to stretch them
• The routing carries no sanctions exposure and the required overflight permissions are obtainable

How we are paid

From a margin inside the price we quote. The figure you see is the figure you pay: there is no separate broker fee bolted on at the end, no charge for a quote, and no charge for advice that does not lead to a booking. Landing and handling fees, crew costs, fuel and applicable taxes are inside the quoted number. Extended catering, ground transport and winter de-icing are the usual extras, and we tell you about them before you commit rather than afterwards.

When a broker is the wrong answer

If you fly the same route more than about fifty hours a year, run the numbers on a jet card or fractional share before you call us - the fixed-rate certainty may beat per-flight pricing. If you need a scheduled seat on a busy trunk route and the timing genuinely does not matter, commercial first class will usually cost less for one or two people. We would rather say so than sell a flight that does not make sense, because the clients worth having are the ones who come back.
