Alberta Museum in a Race for a Jet
There are only a few days left for the Alberta Aviation Museum to find $47,000 to buy a fighter jet. The jet is part of the aerospace history of the province.
The museum searched for some time for a F-104 Starfighter. The Starfighter is the fastest ever jet that operated in Canada. It also played an important role in the aviation repair sector in Edmonton. The museum has just found one at a cost of $70,000. The only problem is that they have only $23,000 from donations. The jet broker will only allow the sale to be put on hold until the 14th December.
The museums director believes that this may well prove to be their last chance of getting this fighter.
Canada produced about 200 of these F-104 Starfighters. There were built in the 1960’s and used for around 25 years by NATO and Canada during defence of their airspace during the Cold War years.
