Aircraft Charter - Price Increases Expected

If UK airports continue to become more and more congested then we may see substantial increases in airfares the Government have been warned.

Many airports have constraints on capacity and this will limit availability and choice for many air travelers. This is especially true in the south-east of the UK where Heathrow which is one of the world’s largest airports has been told by the Government that expansion is prohibited.

The Government have been advised that they must put consumers first when it comes to their aviation policy. Fares at such airports are likely to significantly increase due to passenger number constraints. Airfares could increase by £10 over the coming years with London City Airport increasing fares by £17.

This also means that London which may be well positioned and well-connected at the moment may find themselves less able to adjust compared to other European cities who act as hubs for the economic rise of the emerging markets in places like India and China.

At the moment Heathrow plays a significant role in world aviation and the UK as a whole contributes and is a major force in international trade. However some say that the UK is slowly losing out to many other European airports and airlines are less likely to gamble on routes from the UK to emerging markets due to constraints.

What this may mean is that some airports may become selective in their choice of routes and the airlines that fly them to best optimise the airports value to a worldwide market. It is important that any such decisions have the consumers well being foremost in its mind.

What this also means is that some air travelers may well switch to private jet hire to suit their requirements.
